Michelle has spent the last 18 years specialising in the integration of ICT into teaching and learning, first as Managing Director of Learnthings Africa and now as Managing Director of Think Ahead, and Director of iSchoolAfrica.
Michelle has been closely involved in the integration of digital curriculum into schools, teacher training, consultation on ICT policy and deployment within the education sector.
Through Michelle’s experience – she realised there was a huge need for more focused creative, project based learning. Michelle started Think Ahead in 2009 with this mission in mind.
Michelle’s key focus is working with partners in public and private sector to develop educational technology solutions that serve in the best interest of teachers and learners. She is invited to present at international conferences on trends in educational technology.
Business Development Manager
Lise has been involved in the digital sector for 15 years – with a focus on strategy and solutions for retail, enterprise and educational institutions. Lise heads up Business Development for Think Ahead.
Her key role is to ensure the Think Ahead team are meeting the needs of partner schools – in a way which is scalable, innovative and cost effective. She ensures that partner schools have access to Apple updates and events, as well as products and offerings that will contribute to each school’s vision.
Professional Development Manager
Jeanette is a BA graduate, Multimedia and Visual Communication. She holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Education and a certificate for Teaching with Technology.
Jeanette has 10 years of teaching experience in both Arts and Technology, cluster leadership and exam moderation. Jeanette has also spent six years as Head of Curriculum and Technology Integration. She is a certified APD (Apple Professional Developer).
At Think Ahead, Jeanette is responsible for ensuring teacher training support to our partner schools – to infuse all aspects of 21st century learning into your classroom.
Professional Development Facilitator
Mike has a Bachelor of Education degree. His career started off as a teacher at one of iSchoolAfrica’s programme schools and joined ThinkAhead and iSchoolAfrica in 2013 as a professional development facilitator. He specialises in training teachers on the integration of technology into the South African curriculum. He has worked in a broad range of schools from the most rural, to township, special needs and private sector.
Mike aims to bring out the hidden potential that teachers have to change teaching and learning in South African schools.
Professional Development Facilitator
Wendy has an HDE Junior Primary and has taught throughout the Primary School across the Grades from 1 – 6. In public and private schooling sector.
She has 21 years teaching experience and has taught for 5 years in an Apple One2One environment. She has vast experience in the integration of iPads into the classroom.
She is a certified APD ( Apple Professional Developer )
Wendy joined the team in 2014, as an iPad facilitator, working with schools in both the private and under resourced sectors. She is passionate about supporting the teachers to bring about change by integrating iPads into their classrooms.
21st Century Learning Co-ordinator
Mineze holds a B.A. Hons. Development Communication degree. Her career started as a corporate social investment manager where she managed a programme focused on schools.
Mineze focuses on bringing “future school” programmes to Think Ahead partner schools – in line with global trends. Mineze co-ordinates student and teacher training for CodeSpace (bring coding literacy to schools) and MakerSpace (setting up MakerSpace environments to encourage design and discovery).
Leanne has been designing for more than a decade and has experience in designing collateral for school brands. After completing a course in web design, she made the move from graphic design to digital design. She is responsible for designing all marketing collateral and managing Think Ahead’s websites.
Leanne also spent a few years teaching English as a second language (ESL) in China. She is passionate about branding, technology and education. Working at Think Ahead marries her love for design and education.
Special needs/Accessibility Facilitator
Karen has a background in digital design. Born out of a need to teach her daughter correct pronunciation of her second language at home, and unable to find any apps, she began investigating ways for a non-programmer to create vernacular specific content that could be used on the iPad.
Karen has conceptualised and developed apps for minority languages, including apps for South African Sign Language (SASL) with integrated Afrikaans and English, and presented a paper about its development at the Interactive Design and Child Conference, New York in 2013.
Karen joined the ThinkAhead team in February of 2014 specialising in iPad integration in special needs schools.
Education Development Manager, KZN
Sam is based in KZN. She has business and computer practice diplomas. Her initial background is in Public Relations & Communications, which has ensured her expertise in client care, needs analysis, project management and strategic planning.
Sam has also spent time in the e-publishing sector – and therefore understands the intricacies and implications of a school “going digital “. Sam has vast experience in supporting schools in their ICT rollouts. Her role at Think Ahead is to ensure our KZN partner schools have someone on hand to support their ICT integration planning, deployment and evaluation.
Laetitia de Jager
iSchoolAfrica Programme Manager
Laetitia has a B.Sc Physical Science Degree with a Diploma in Education. Laetitia has 10 years teaching experience in Mathematics and Physical Science in public and private schools.
Laetitia is responsible for the management of one of Think Ahead’s key programmes, iSchoolAfrica iPad Learning Programme.
She leads the educational implementation of this ICT integration initiative, that deploys Apple products in rural and township schools across the country.
She joined iSchoolAfrica in 2011, driving exciting change in the rural and township education landscape of South Africa.
iSchool Press Team Co-ordinator
Refilwe graduated from Rhodes University with a Bachelor of Journalism. She has worked in broadcasting; producing current affairs shows. Her passion lies in story telling and creating platforms for people from all walks of life to tell their stories. Refilwe also has experience working in schools, helping learners make more informed decisions about their future career prospects and building relationships with educators. As the Youth Press Coordinator at iSchool Africa, her focus will be to ensure the success of the iSchool Youth Press Programme; working hard to create spaces for the youth’s voice to be heard across the world.
Kevin M. Matidze
Technical Solutions Support
Kevin holds an IT Management Diploma, International Networking Certificates, Apple Certified Support Professional certificates , Apple iOS Certified Technician, and a PRINCE2 (Foundations) Project Management Certificate.
For the past 2 years, Kevin has been providing Apple Professional Support to iStore customers as Senior Technical Support Consultant.
As a Technical Solutions Support for Think Ahead, Kevin’s role is to support the educational implementation from a technical point of view. To ensure learning outcomes can be met , as all the technical needs have been addressed. His support areas include solutions such as Mobile Device Management (MDM), Apple School Manager (ASM), Volume Purchase Program (VPP), training and customer consulting.
Education Project Co-ordinator
Over the past 4 years Nicholus has been responsible for managing the University of Johannesburg iStore – where he worked closely with faculty and students ensuring effective distribution and utilisation of iPads. He offered training and tech support.
Nicholus joined the Think Ahead team in 2017. He coordinates and oversees the execution of Think Ahead’s education projects & events. He is also a facilitator for CodeSpace, Think Ahead’s coding programme.
